Canon EOS 500n, really like this combination of the Canon and my old Helios lens. Now I’m getting older my eyesight isn’t as good as it used to be, but the Canon gives me focus confirmation which really helps. I loaded the camera with Kodacolor 200 which had expired in 2001 and rather than getting it developed at the fast photo outlet in town I sent it off to the excellent FilmDev lab, what a difference.

These images were taken back in March.

Considering the long out of date film I was really pleased with the images.

Canon EOS-500n (EOS Rebel G) #3

Last few from the Canon taken in my garden using the lovely Helios lens and an extension tube. It was really hard to focus with such a narrow depth of field and my eyes aren’t as good as they used to be.

I have to admit I needed to look up this flower as it was a self setter. The Bees really like it.

Can’t get these to grow where I want them, they seem to prefer the gaps between the paving slabs, so I guess they like a sandy soil.

I enjoyed using the Canon 500n especially with the Helios lens, it deserves another outing with some fresh film.

My buddy who kindly donated his Nikon FM2 to me also gave me a Canon EOS 500n body. I don’t have any Canon autofocus lenses so I bought a M42 adapter so I could use my old Helios 58mm lens. The adapter also gives focus confirmation and infinity focus. There was a film in the camera, a very old Kodacolor 200.

Robert Hall

Statue of the Rev. Robert Hall (2 May 1764 – 21 February 1831) was an English Baptist minister from Arnesby, Leicestershire.

The camera has got some useful features, and considering the film was very much past it’s expiry date I quite like the colour shifts.
