Looking For Some Wheels

03-11-18

Can’t believe it was May 2015 when my car was totalled this is the longest I’ve been without a car since I passed my driving test in 1973. Spent the last few days trawling the internet car sale sites, I don’t want to spend lots of money as the car will have to stand on the road, but it needs to be good enough to take me over to France next year to see my friends.

The main reasons for wanting another car is to get the cats easily to the vets for their annual vaccinations, and Fleur needs her teeth cleaning. Also I want to get out and about more with my cameras to different locations, having being spurred on by some old negatives I found from the Rolleiflex the other week.

This is a really old one from the 1980’s. Fortunately most of the Steam Engines were rescued and can be seen running on the many preserved railways around the UK.

Well back to searching the internet for a car. Have a great weekend.

Turning Vintage

17-06-18

Looking through some old negative files I realised that some of them are becoming vintage, a bit like me. One of the sheets had some negatives from 1984, the camera I had at that time was a Zenith EM, with a 50mm Helios and a 30mm wide angle Pentacon lens.

Red phone boxes, with a 3 wheeler Reliant parked beside them. There’s even a bank pre ATM days. The chemist was offering 24hr photographic developing and printing.

The bank has gone along with the red phone boxes. Now it’s mainly bars coffee/beer and charity shops, but the chemist has survived.

The negatives also had some images from a trip to Lincoln.

Woolworths no longer exist and Littlewoods have very few stores nowadays.

On the same roll a trip to Malvern, Worcestershire.

These were on the walk up the Malvern Hills.

Photography was relatively expensive back in the 1980’s so you had to be a bit more careful with the amount of shots you took, well I did as I wasn’t on a very big salary. Wish I still had that Pentacon lens, its pretty sharp even on the Fuji 400 of the day.

Milestone

20-10-17

Well for me personally that is. I reached the grand old age of 65 yesterday !!!!! can’t believe it, my brain doesn’t, only the aches and pains and a glance in the mirror bring it home. Today I was in a reminiscing mood, looking through old photographs and negatives, thinking about my mum and dad and old friends.
