I’m writing this feeling sorry for myself, I have broken a tooth and it aches. If you shook me there would be a rattle from all the painkillers. Hopefully on Tuesday when I go to the Dentist it will all be over, got a feeling it will be an extraction, the penalties of getting old (long in the tooth)
Took a walk to town last Thursday, the weather was a bit dull but I needed the exercise and the cats needed some treats.
Wild Roses on the Way
Into the Park
I’m so glad this park is on my route to town, all that Green is good for the soul.

Palais de Dance
This was the premiere dance hall in the city from the 1950’s to the end of the 70’s. It’s derelict now and about to be converted into apartments. I only visited it a couple of times (not my scene) in the late 60’s and early 70’s, I remember the ceiling complete with the prerequisite glitter ball had lots of tiny lights that looked like a starry night sky.
The cats were out in the garden this morning practising their stalking skills on each other. Of course as soon as I went out with a camera they stopped and followed me around, I’m sure it was just in case I might have had some cat treats with me.
Mimi (Fleurs Daughter)
They were both full of energy this morning, and brought a smile to my face with their playfulness.
The weather has been a bit unsettled over the last few days, but at least we haven’t had any of the severe storms like some other parts of the UK, Yet. The garden is very green at the moment, and lots of the plants are late in flowering. It was windy today making it a bit difficult to photograph the flowers that were out.
The weather took a turn for the better yesterday so I took a quick walk to town, cat treats and me treats were needed. Spring is definitely in the air, although today it’s windy and dull. 70 deg F promised for tomorrow, we’ll see. I managed to grab a few photo’s on my walk.
My Front Garden
I wish the rest of it looked like this.
Spotted on the Park, I liked the colour contrast.

Two Black & White Images From The City
The advantage of the weather being cooler today is that my cat Fleur is curled up on my lap while I’m writing this, she’s lovely and warm and purring gently, bliss.
Had the film developed from my lovely sunny visit to the University Botanic Gardens last week. I don’t mind scanning in negatives too much so long as I have a good supply of coffee, nicotine tablets, and some good music to listen to. A 70’s prog rock selection seemed just right, Atomic Rooster was the first album to hit the speakers, and it brought back memories of seeing them at Leicester Poly in 1971 ish, followed by selections of Camel, Baker Gurvitz Army, Bad Company, and some early Electric Prunes.
Film Shots From The Olympus – OM101/88, with 50mm, and 35-70mm lenses
I used a polarising filter on some of these shots to bring the colours out and darken the sky. It was my first time using Fuji C200 film (kindly donated by one of my photowalk buddies) I have to say I’m quite impressed with it.
The weather has been so unsettled lately that I felt the need for a bit of colour to boost my mood. So yesterday I went on a quick trip to the University Botanic gardens. Wasn’t sure if there would be much in the way of blooms after all the bad weather we have had but there were a few hardy specimens and the colour of autumn was just beginning to take hold. These were taken with a digital camera but I also took along a film camera, and when I have scanned the negatives I will post a few shots if they are ok.
After the awful weather over the last few days it was great to wake up to a warm sunny morning. I needed to go into town to stock up on essentials, have a film developed, and donate a box of kitten food to my neighbour who’s feeding the feral cats that have camped out in her garden. Managed to take a few photographs on the walk in.

Building On The Circle
There’s a lot of building going on in the city at the moment, unfortunately most of it is bland apartment blocks, no doubt this will be the same !
Yesterday I needed to top up cat food supplies (very important) and cake supplies for me ! So I took a quick walk to town, the weather wasn’t bad if a bit breezy. Took the Sigma with me to get a few shots if anything caught my eye.
The hanging baskets outside the cathedral were looking good.
Not sure why I like this, possibly the leaves contrasting with the modernish building.
No idea what this thing is supposed to do, looked through it at all angles but all I saw was a blur, not the kaleidoscope effect I was expecting.
