A long time buddy (and good photographer) invited me to a poetry evening at Leicester Central Library (a Carnegie Library) last night. He had a poem published last year in the Welcome To Leicester poetry book, and was invited to read it out. He kindly dedicated the reading to my mum, we took in two Hungarian refugees in 1956 after the failed uprising. The book is all about how welcoming Leicester is to people from all over the world told through poems, although it wasn’t always quite so accommodating in the past.

It was a murky night and I wasn’t looking forward to the walk into town. I’m so glad I went as the people running the event were lovely, plus there were snacks and cakes. Got to meet two photographers who have contributed to the 52Rolls blog on WordPress, and we arranged to meet up soon for a photo walk, and possibly a beer or two afterwards !
