I’m writing this feeling sorry for myself, I have broken a tooth and it aches. If you shook me there would be a rattle from all the painkillers. Hopefully on Tuesday when I go to the Dentist it will all be over, got a feeling it will be an extraction, the penalties of getting old (long in the tooth)
Took a walk to town last Thursday, the weather was a bit dull but I needed the exercise and the cats needed some treats.
Wild Roses on the Way
Into the Park
I’m so glad this park is on my route to town, all that Green is good for the soul.
A bit of Variegation
In The Pink
One of my Favourite Buildings in the Town
Palais de Dance
This was the premiere dance hall in the city from the 1950’s to the end of the 70’s. It’s derelict now and about to be converted into apartments. I only visited it a couple of times (not my scene) in the late 60’s and early 70’s, I remember the ceiling complete with the prerequisite glitter ball had lots of tiny lights that looked like a starry night sky.
It was bright and cold this morning so off to the town. Decided to pay a visit to where I used to live in my childhood. Haven’t been back for many years, and when I turned down the old street all the memories came back even though one side of the street is no longer there. My old house is still standing and it was great to see it, shame I had just filled the memory card up !!! but got a shot on a film camera.
Lets Hope Not
Latvian, Lithuanian, Romanian, Russian, Polish, and Hungarian
Must give this place a visit, be nice to get some Latvian beer. The area has always been very cosmopolitan, one of the first delicatessen’s in Leicester was just around the corner, much to my mums delight.
Went for a walk to the city this morning but took a film camera with me, still a few shots to go before I can take the film in for processing. Been in a bit of a nostalgic/reminiscing mood this week, it was my birthday on the 19th, the Beatles wrote a song about my age, no not “Help” although that would be entirely appropriate. So this afternoon I decided to play a bit of vinyl, one of my favourite albums, Caravan – In the Land of Grey and Pink. I saw them live in 1970 and bought this album when it was released in 1971. Gentle English prog rock is probably the best way to describe it, with some great keyboard and bass playing.
That turntable needs a dusting !
Hope this link works.
And to make it even better my cat Mimi came and lay on my lap, of course with vinyl she only had a short stay as I had to turn the record over.
