After Eunice

It was quite breezy yesterday with storm “Eunice” passing through. Luckily the house and fence held together, and my car passed it’s annual MOT test.

Not the the day for going out taking photographs, although the heavy rain has just stopped and the sun is trying to peep through the clouds.

PhotoBuddies Day Out 2

01-07-19

Went out with the PhotoBuddies last Thursday (27-06-19) for our second mini road trip, just a few miles from the last one. The weather was just right 22C. – 71F. we haven’t had the heatwave that most of Europe has been experiencing although it did nudge 30C. 86F. on Saturday.

We drove out to Beacon Hill (wiki link), a place I haven’t been to for years.

According to the information board the rocks on this site are about 600 million years old, some of the oldest exposed rocks in England and Wales, David Attenborough (grew up in Leicestershire) mentioned them in one of his programmes.

There’s a nice wooded area as you head down towards the car park.

Yet another place to pay a return visit to. I also took an old 6×6 film camera with me. and last night I mixed up some Ilford ID11 developer, I like to leave it for a couple of days so it’s not so fierce. Will probably develop the film on the weekend, hopefully some shots will turn out.

25-06-19

This Morning !

The summer weather seems to be bypassing us this year, though according to the latest weather forecast it should brighten up on Thursday, good job as I’m out with the PhotoBuddies.

#2 of last weeks outing to Bradgate Park, I thought the images suited converting to Black & White.

If Summer ever arrives I’m looking forward to photographing more of the park, It would be good to give the old Rolleiflex an outing.

Painting The Town

28-05-19

Met up with the PhotoBudies last week to have a walk around the cultural quarter of the town, and have a look at the new street art going up. Because of the variable weather we have had recently (I guess) they had only just started their artwork, but it was a lovely sunny warm day and it was great to just walk around. I took along a film camera and my Sigma DP1.

New (secondhand) Lens

29-03-19

I got a new lens for my old Olympus E620 digital camera today, a 35mm f3.5 Zuiko Macro at a very good price from a dealer. It arrived midday today so I took a few snaps with it to check it was working as it should, the sun was out and it was warm.

I’m pleased with the lens and looking forward to getting out and about with it, focusing on a particular point can be a bit tricky but that’s down to me rather than the lens.

Walking To The Dentist

22-01-19

It was lovely and bright this morning as I set out to the dentists surgery, another filling, only two more to go. Arrived in town early so decided to walk the rest of the way along the path by the River Soar and Grand Union Canal, an area I haven’t visited for many years, what a change, new paths, green areas, and apartment blocks of course. I had my Sigma DP1 with me, and for a change could use it at 200 asa because it was so sunny. As I arrived back at home the clouds rolled in and it tried to snow.

Pondering

31-10-18

The last few weeks have been a bit thought provoking for me, three people I know have passed to the next life, although they weren’t close friends they will be missed. On top of that one my oldest buddies was misdiagnosed with a serious disease, after further investigation all he requires is a straightforward op, phew. So I have been pondering a lot about life and such. Haven’t been out taking many photographs just a few quick digital shots with the Sigma DP1 on my way into town or the local shops.

PhotoBuddies Walk

24-04-18

Had a PhotoBuddies walk arranged for today, but the weather was really grey and dull with added rain, so we spent most of the time in a coffee bar, which was OK by me as I had been out twice over the weekend to see bands, and consumed more than my total normal months beer intake. I took along my old Olympus E620 digital and a film camera, only used the Olympus.
