Thursday Doors

19-05-22

A few more doors from my walks, mainly to the music pub or to meet friends at a pub in town. I’ve been trying to get my fitness levels up after testing positive for Covid at the beginning of March, I self isolated for 14 days and that took it’s toll as I spent most of the time in the house. Managed to walk 6 miles on Tuesday and it was OK, so getting there.

To see some Doors from all over the world head over to Dan Antions excellent blog.

The flowers above the door caught my eye on this one.

Thornby Hall

I was going to post this for last weeks “Thursday Doors” over at Dan Antions excellent blog, but chores and other mundane things got in the way. After my adrenaline ride on the back of my buddies Triumph motorbike to Thornby Hall I managed to steady my hands enough to take some images.

View of the Hall

According to their website the site of the Hall dates back to the 1500’s. The building of the present hall starting in 1665. The site is now a meditation centre and as you would expect very calming, I think the lovely warm colour of the stone helps convey calmness.

A simple side door

The gardens around the hall are really worth a walk around, not too manicured, left to be more natural.

I know it’s not a door, but I liked this little shelter/gazebo

Looking forward to going back for another visit, they serve really good food and coffee, not to mention homemade cakes !

Managed to photograph a few doors on my way to the music pub last Friday. Haven’t felt much like taking any images lately, but the weather was reasonable if not that warm, and the thought of meeting friends and some good beer and music spurred me on. Check out Dan Antions blog for a great selection of doors from around the world.

I like the slightly tatty doors the best.
Love the old Victorian villas that have names.

Great brickwork and canopy.

Another named one.

Two for one.

A nice textured Blue one.

These are from the archive (2018) I haven’t managed to get out to take any photographs lately. My lovely cat Fleur (mumsy) has got a nasty infection on her mouth, she’s had a blood test, result was clear, steroid and antibiotic injections. We are off to the vets again first thing tomorrow morning, I won’t be able to settle until I can see some improvement in her.

Seen better days. I do like the Green tiles though.

The stickers caught my eye !

Got to like Purple door.

Still suffering with the cold/flu but it’s easing a bit. Going to risk visiting the music pub tomorrow, perhaps a whiskey or two will help ease the symptoms. Consequently I haven’t been out and about taking photo’s so here are two from early last year. For more images of doors from around the world take a look at Dan Antion’s excellent blog.

The Crescent

All images taken on Agfa Parat Half Frame camera, Fomapan 100 @ 200asa, developed in Ilford Ilfosol 3

Apparently in the 1960’s they wanted to demolish these buildings ! thankfully they were repurposed and saved by a local businessman. I really like what we have left of the Georgian style of architecture in the city.

Thursday Doors

From a last September walkabout.

Not too many of these old style shops about anymore. (not Baker Street !)
Side of an old empty factory (now sold)

I took these images with a new to me Half Frame Agfa Parat camera, Fomapan 100 at 200 asa developed in Ilfosol 3. Was so pleased the camera worked as it should, its a fully manual camera so you have to estimate focus distance and exposure. I have the Paramat version too, that one sets the exposure automatically.
