Steps In The Woods

Olympus OM2n – Vivitar 19mm f3.8 – Konica ir750 film.

This is an old one from the archive, mid 1990’s I think. Taken on a walk in Lathkil Dale  Derbyshire. I was quite surprised to see these steps abandoned in the woods, they were nicely covered in moss. It was quite dark and I thought the image would be underexposed, the lens was wide open (not good for the Vivitar) but the lovely Konica infrared film didn’t let me down.

Monochrome Wednesday (PhotoBuddies Outing)

Another contribution to “Monochrome Wednesday” combined with the PhotoBuddies outing to the Lincolnshire coast.

When I developed this film I thought I had already put 2 films through the stock developer solution so increased the developing time to compensate, I hadn’t put any films through, in consequence this roll was overdeveloped, but thanks to the latitude of Ilford HP5+ and with some help from Lightroom I managed to retrieve some images. 

Wide Open Spaces

The sea goes out a long way at low tide in this area.

Placed the camera on the tripod, set the self timer and dashed back to the PhotoBuddies, the wind caught the camera strap and masked us out perfectly !

Tank

The military use this area for target practice, hence the old tank chassis. Apparently
it’s an A34 Comet Tank.

It was a great PhotoBuddies outing. We went down the coast a bit to Mablethorpe, a very traditional seaside resort. Had some really excellent Fish & Chips and a walk along the sea front. Took some images with my film compact camera, will post these soon.

Ilford SFX 200 – And The Spinney

I had the Olympus OM2sp CLA’d a few months back but after using it I noticed the selector lever for the exposure modes was loose and getting looser. So I sent the camera back and they adjusted it foc, and it’s now working as it should. Took it with me to Dams Spinney last week loaded with Ilford SFX 200 (expired 2009) with just one lens a Vivitar 19mm wide angle with a Red 25A filter attached to try and bring out some infrared effects, because the film was so expired I wasn’t sure what I would get. Developed the film in D76 stock solution and was pleasantly surprised by the results, good job as I have another 2 rolls in the egg compartment of the refrigerator.

Next time I use this film I’ll try an R72 filter to get more of an infrared look. Really enjoyed using the Oly OM2sp, it has a lovely big viewfinder and spot metering, which I used for most of the film to help with the tricky lighting in the spinney. And best of all the negatives were really clean, I filtered all the chemicals before pouring into the developing tank and added a little bit of IPA (not beer) isopropyl alcohol to the final rinse.

Same place a few days later with the Olympus OM2sp and Vivitar 19mm wide angle lens. Shot on Fuji Superia 200 (only just out of date) The wind on mechanism decided to stop working properly so I only got a few shots off this roll.

I think the Pen EE3 does a great job when compared to it’s full frame brother.
